An apple a day keeps the doctor away.
At least we were told that, way back in the day.
So I took one in lunches, and bobbed them in punches,
I sliced them, and diced them, and ate them in bunches.
I baked them and fried them, stewed them and juiced them,
I picked them and ate them, plumb down to their stems
As now I grow older, my faith seems to falter,
Try as I might, I still need the doctor.
And then to my shock, I researched apple stock,
and found that the orchards belonged to old doctors.
