Philippians 4:19 And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.
As many of you know I have been through a rather interesting couple of months. In October I was repairing a light fixture in my bathroom when the step stool I was standing on started to slide from beneath me as I shifted my weight on it. The result was that I fell in a narrow space between the commode and the wall. This story is not to rehash what happened to me, but to bring light to what God can do when we aren't paying attention. God's plan as I now see it: Tuesday of that week I was scheduled to have the battery replaced in my defibrillator. It only lasted eleven years and I didn't get a refund. As ordered I had suspended my blood thinner on Sat. in preparation for the surgery. I was working in the master bath and my wife was in her recliner with headphones listening to YouTube. When my screaming and crying subsided I realized that I was stuck between the wall and the commode and any slight flex of my left side from shoulder to hip was akin to; Every think when cutting up a chicken how painful it would be if the bird were alive when you separate the thigh from the body. You get the idea. I realized that I was stuck and my wife would not hear me screaming. I was carrying my cell phone in my pocket. I never have my cell on me in the house. I called my wife's phone and the home phone with no answer. She listens to her YO Tube loud. I found our next door neighbors phone number and called Linda the angel of mercy. Linda came immediately through the garage and alerted my wife to my plight. Knowing I could not move I told them to all 911 and within the hour I was on my way to the hospital. This was accompanied by much more streaming and crying as I remember. I was stabilized at SE Memorial Hosp near my house but then transferred to Memorial in the Me Center because SE did not has an orthopedic surgeon on duty. I was placed in Expensive care for the night and my family was sent home. Sometime in the night I had a stroke and required surgery to remove a blood clot in my brain. I had often wondered about the functions of my brain but never considered it was stopped up. Came out of surgery with no longer term stroke symptoms Now I am walking again with the aid of a cane.
I have written this story to remind myself and hopefully others that God is there, He is watching, He is holding us in HIs arms, He will meet our every need.
1. If I had been on blood thinner when I fell, they could not have performed stroke surgery immediately. 2. I had my phone to call for help and my caring neighbor was there for me when we needed her. 3.I could have been retained at SE Mem. where I would have been in a regular room and not so closely monitored to detect my stroke. 4. My body is healing well and I can walk, and drive. Being self sufficient at our age is very important.
God had been going before me, arranging to have my needs met even before I knew what I would need.
Give thanks to the Lord for He is Good.
