Job Application

I have applied for several jobs in my lifetime, and I'll admit to making my qualifications appear in the most favorable light, perhaps stretching the absolute truth on occasion.

There was one job application where I answered quickly and truthfully, to the best of my knowledge, at the time. These questions were perhaps the second most important of my life only ranking behind my decision to repent of my sin and ask Christ to be my Savior.

"I, Mike, take thee, Carolyn, to be my wedded wife, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do us part, according to God's holy ordinance; and thereto I pledge thee my faith [or] pledge myself to you."

As I assisted my love, in her weakened and slowly recovering condition, to get ready for a Dr's visit yesterday, my thoughts returned to those commitments of our youth. Had I known what all was involved in "for better or worse, in sickness in health," would I have still answered "I do."

The immature man I was then, might have had second thoughts, though I doubt it, I was so much in love. The man God's love has made me answered from deep within my soul with a resounding, "Absolutely."

The thing that makes me most joyous, most happy, most content, is to pass on to her my imitation of the love with which Christ loved me. No condition of age, health, wealth, did she always do what I wanted, did she make me angry, did she hurt me, none of those enter in where Christ has placed His love.

John 15:13, 13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
