1 Samuel 15:3, Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass.
In this chapter Saul is removed from Kingship because of his failure to do what God says. In today's culture we would agree with Saul, he didn't want to exterminate this group of people, just as we today would want to show mercy. However, that is not what God told him to do, and he did not follow God's command.
Today we say we believe the Bible but I am convicted that; 1. I don't know the Bible, because I choose to ignore God's specific commands. 2. I don't believe the Bible, for in agreeing with Saul's decision I am in sin just like Saul. 3. I believe only the parts of the Bible which give me the "warm fuzzies", and shy away from God's vengeance.

This is a well read and encouraging section of scripture, as we quickly pass over the few words in verse 2, "and the day of vengeance of our God"
Jesus is a loving Savior full of grace and mercy, BUT, make no mistake, without REPENTANCE and following in his footsteps the day of grace and mercy will slam shut and then the judgement. No second chance, no do overs.
