My heart's always in Texas, wherever I may roam, no matter where I visit the Lone Star is my home. I've climbed the hills of Leakey, and swam the Frio river, camped in Palo Duro, where the spirits live forever Floated Guadalupe, in the shade of mighty cypress, watched the eagles fly above the Colorado's cliffs. Took a dip in Balmorhea, those cool and soothing waters, lost my mind among the stars that shine above McDonald. Wiled away a peaceful night by a campfires on the beach, lived through the hurricanes, learned the lessons they can teach. Watched a musical in Dallas once, in a fancy Music Hall, Searched the hills for arrow heads and really had a ball. Ate my fill of barbecue on a ranch with an outdoor kitchen, Smoked cigars and had a drink with friends to many to mention. Ate a steak at Ft Worth Stockyards, watched a Houston rodeo, Rode I-10 out of Orange all the way to El Paso. I've looked upon the Alamo and felt the death and pain, walked the San Jacinto, where Houston made them pay. Texas has so many sights to offer from her treasure, Dressed to the nines, or in the pines, it's all there for our pleasure. I've been a lot of places but I still hear Texas call. I'm thinking I won't have the time, to ever see it all. But this one thing I know for sure, when I go to my rest, I spent my life in Texas, where God has surely shown His best.
