I'm all that's left of the homestead now, they all have moved away
My roof is rusting through and my doors sag more each day
But I have memories of the days when, I was a busy place
They'd come out early to saddle up, get ready for the day
I weathered many stormy days and kept things from the rain
Those were my days of glory, now those memories give me pain
A barn is more than just a place for feed and tack and tools
I've also been the place kids love to play after school
And once or twice I even was cleaned out to house a party
The music and the dancing made me stand a little taller
Now all that's left to my life is just some roadside pictures
I don't know why they bother, I'm in such bad condition
Oh, if they could have seen me when I was fresh and new
I even had a Texas flag painted on my brand new roof
I guess I had a good life though I miss all I was then
So I'll just stand here looking back, till I lose all my tin.
