The Road
Somewhere down that winding road, lie all of my tomorrows.
However, I control just how I find the end.
The twists and turns along the way, are determined by my choices,
Deep ditches signal perils at each bend.
My progress slows at roadside signs that tell of many pleasures.
I'm tempted just to stop a while, but fear I'll lose my way.
My choice? Let God control my path, or wander without direction.
Life's easy when I read HIS signs, and follow day by day.
His road is straight but narrow, His guidance loud and clear.
So why do I pull over, when sin wants to steer.
Sin lays out a crooked path, attractive, gaudy, and bright.
"That way leads to destruction," His loving voice is in my ear,
There is a toll on that old road, the price too high to pay.
He bought me a free token on the cross, my sin atoned.
Therefore, I'll engage my cruise control, and let Him lead me on.
The peace I feel is awesome, when I follow Him alone.
The road might still get bumpy, a breakdown here and there.
My faith in Him is strong, and His salvation full and free.
His love and sacrifice has bought a home for me on high.
I'll rest from my long journey, praising Him, eternally.
